This paper presents the establish process of motorcycle valve phase and compression ratio measuring system during the development of motorcycle engine for the Jia Ling Industry Group. Main contents are listed as follows:1.Survey the present status of motorcycle industry engine valve phase and compression ratio measuring technology in our country.2.Analyze and compute the theory of motorcycle engine valve phase and compression ratio measuring system.3.Design and develop the device of motorcycle engine valve phase measuring system.4.Design and develop the device of motorcycle engine compression ratio measuring system.5.Error analysis of the above two devices of motorcycle engine measuring system.During the process of measuring valve phase, the grating displacement sensor and photoelectric axis-angle encoder are applied to measure the displacement of valve and the angle of curving shaft respectively. Their signals are sampled and imported into computer. Then the three signals are compared to find the relationship of valve phases in order to offer the reliable measuring parameters for the researchers and quality controllers.During the process of measuring compression ratio, the viscous fluid instead of burning gas is applied to measure the maximal volume. residual volume and working volume of the engine combustion cylinder respectively.Two different measuring methods of compression ratio are compared and discussed for different applied limits, merits and defects of each are analyzed relevantly.Methodological research of measuring motorcycle valve phase and compression ratio is put forward in this paper. The devices mentioned above can be applied to develop and manufacture such kind of motorcycle engine. Farther research work can be carried out to discover more valuable results.As far as concerned the paper is valuable to the motorcycle engine researchers and quality controllers.
