Rotor-bearing system is the most vital component of large rotating machinery. Lubricating fluid field and rotor dynamics are very important to the safe operation of the unit. It has been studied quite extensively in the past. When the rotor vibrating, a net force is exerted on fluid field, which will change the rotor's vibration on the same time. So, the fluid-solid coupled method must be used to model this system. In this thesis, structure of bearing, lubrication theory, numerical methods used in fluid modeling are introduced. A 2-D fully coupled dynamic model for the rotor-lubricating system is set up based on Galerkin finite-element method. By comparing with models and results of other researches, some useful conclusions are presented. How to develop flexible and high efficiency calculation program is discussed at the end of this thesis. The method used in the model can be extended to set up a 3-D model easily. Some assumptions and simplifications have been taken. Their influences will be considered in further researches.
