Pipeline system is widely used in various industrial departments, such as petroleum, chemical industry, and urban water supply system. And the problems along with leaking of pipeline are also very serious. Howerver, several traditional ultrasonic nondestructive testing techniques can't satisfy the requirement of development of pipe-conveyance. Ultrasonic guided waves technique is a new technique because of its advantages: fast, economical and reliable. Unfortunately, there isn't guided -waves transducer in our country at present. Based on this problem,The aim of this project is just to develop a kind of guided-waves transducer system with which we can generate and receive ultrasonic guided waves in pipes. First, we introduce the development of this research field, and review the relative theories and basis on ultrasonic guided waves and development of transducer. Subsequently, we depict in detail the prosess of the development of guided-waves transducer, based on the particularity of object to be detected-pipeline and some relative manufacture techniques of transducer. And we have made 24 guided-waves transducers and a mechanical device with which we can mount transducers on a pipe. Also, we have simulated several characteristics of transducers on computer. Finally, we conduct the experiments of generating and receiving guided waves on a pipe with the transducer system we have developed in our lab. The result of these experiments indicates that the transducer system we have developed can effectively generate and receive special modes of guided waves we need, and restrain the guided wave modes that we don't need. It is hopeful that our guided-waves transducer system can be used in the testing of pipes' flaw.
