Along with the development of modem information, network, computer and control technology, smart home becomes realization. By these techniques, some instruments, such as electrical appliances, home alarm equipment and communication equipment can be combined to constitute a system of smart home. The system provides an automatic living space with high security, comfort and fast communication.This article introduces a system of smart home based on RS-485 bus. The recent situation home and abroad in this field and the reason why it hasn't been popularized are analyzed. Also, the basis on which this scheme is selected is demonstrated through the transmission media, data quantity, communication protocol, total cost and so on. The principle and realization of some instruments based on bus, including touch screen terminal, home alarm module, motor module, temperature module, infrared module, communication module are explicated in detail. Besides, the drawings of their structures are shown. The method to confirm the coordinates of the touch screen is emphasized.In the end, the outlook of smart home is forecasted, and the present problems are investigated.
