The characteristics of vortex field can be described visually by vortex line. On the basis of the experiment, this thesis furthered the research on vortex in the inlet side of the pump system with the method of numerical calculation, and offered its axial vortex line, and contrasted this line with the diagrammatized vortex line.l.The experiment measured the flow field of pump inlet by seven-hole cone probes under two kinds of flux, and gained pressure and speed distribution in this field, then obtained the rule of vortex field distribution.2. The transient continuously distributive vortex can be replaced by a number of discrete point vortexes. The trajectory of vortex movement was computed with the method of discrete vortex and the axial vortex movement in the inlet side of the pump system was simulated.3.This thesis protracted vortex lines of different flows and times, and contrasted and analyzed the results.4. After contrasting two vortex lines gained with two methods: numerical simulation and diagrammatizing, this thesis found they were well coincident.5.The numerical simulation of the axial vortex movement in the inlet side of the pump system with the method of discrete vortex provided a new way for hydromechanical characteristics of a pump system.
