The use of reinforced plastics or composite material in the fabrication of structural components has grown substantially in recent years. Composite structures have become increasingly popular as a replacement for metallic parts, particularly in high performance applications such as in the aircraft industry, because of the high strength to weight ratio, good corrosion resistance, good impact resistance, and thermal resistance exhibited by composite parts.One aspect of the composites industry which has restricted the use of composite material parts in some applications is that traditionally many composite material parts had to be fabricated by hand or with several manual operations. The technology of automating the formation of composite parts continues to evolve, but limitations still exist particularly in the formation of parts having a relatively complex shape, parts having contoured or arcade surfaces.The manufacture system of filament winding (FW) and fiber placement (FP) is the one of advanced equipment for FRP products. It can be used to produce the products of the positive curvature gyration bodies, such as container cylinder, oil tank, tube,orb,cone,assembled body and so on. Furthermore, it is more suited to machining some products of the complex bodies such as the surfaces of the negative curvature gyration bodies, the shell components which have slots and reinforced tendons.However, the fiber placement head is the pivotal framework in the manufacture system of FW and FP. It is a technology that has combined mechanism, electron and air pressure. Its joint's movement is similar to that of the manipulator. According to the request of the molding technics and component's shape, The framework has many functions, such as fetching, directing, spreading, heating, orienting, pressing, shearing, commutating for the continuous filament tape. It carries out the laying role on the surface of the model according to the program given by the computer control system.It includes adding means, compaction means, cutting means, film system, heating means and the assistant setups such as guiding the direction , orientation etc.The paper has discussed and compared three projects from the setup's component ,designed the setup by the best project.Finally we have experimentalized to the fiber placement head.
