The research of dynamics of multibody systems is a front-line topic in applied mechanics. Modeling and numerical solutions are the kernel contents of dynamics of multibody systems analysis. But it is difficult to establish general equations of multibody systems, especially convenient for computer to do numerical solution.In this paper, according to the idiographic characteristics of multibody system, both modeling methods for dynamics of multibody systems and numerical solution are studied.On the aspect of modeling, by adopting relative description, the dynamic control equations of multibody system based on the Lagrange's equations are educed.Through discretization method, the model of multibody system formed is a differential-algebraic equations, hi this paper, on the hand, the method of symbolic linearization is used to solve small displacement of multi-rigid systems, and has good results. On the other hand, by combining generalized coordinate partitioning algorithm and backward differentiation formulas to solve common multibody systems, the nonlinear ordinary differential equations are turned to nonlinear algebraic equations.At last, with general symbolic computation software Mathematica and C++Builder, modeling and the symbolic computation for multi-rigid systems and rigid-flexible multibody systems are made. The simulation analysis of numerical examples demonstrates that the methods in this paper above have great promise in applications.
