In this thesis, the stability of earth and rockfill dams during earthquake is studied due to theoretical and practical needs.At first, the development of analysis methods to the dams' stability is reviewed, the advantages and shortcomings of several analysis methods are specified subjectively. Then the principal and process of one analysis method to dams" dynamic stability, as well as test methods to the parameters of mechanics and of permanent displacements which are necessary for stability analysis are elaborated.After studying the analysis program of dam's stability, the author complete its pre-process and post-process programs. Recurring to pre-process program of ANSYS and drawing functions of Winsurf, pre-process program serving to finite elements auto-division of dam bodies and basements models and post-process program capable of plotting various isolines of stress and dams' distortion are worked out. Collecting program of data files necessary for dams' dynamic stability analysis is also finished. Analysis results indicate that the perfected analysis program is more practical and efficient, thus time limits for projects can be shortened.With a simplified homogeneous dam body-basement model, during the ground pulse motion, the dams' dynamic responses are analyzed separately with established program and decoupled solution in which explicit finite-element movation solution is combined with multi-transmitting formula. Results indicate that although established program uses traditional vibration solution, from the point of view of dams' dynamic stability analysis during earthquakes, its solution and boundaries treatment are feasible and can meet needs of practical projects. However, from the point of view of development, for dynamical response of large dam and three-dimensions bodies, movation solution which is more efficient, more accurate and explicitly decoupled should be used. It is a tendency of future.At last, seismic stability of the dam in Erlongshan reservior is analyzedwith traditional analysis method. The results under horizontal ground motion with three levels are listed, and the stability of this dam is evaluated simply.Finally, researches to be studied are prospected too.
