The old realty criterion do a lot of damage to the consumers for it's inaptitude and nonstandard. The rising Dissension about the criterion calls on a new one to accommodate with it. So, a new criterion about the area calculation of the house appears. According to that, the area of the house equal to the sum of the practical area and the area of the wall section. The latter can be calculated on the criterion easily. But, the former is not so easy, especially the anomalous plane. This paper plans to design a planimeter to solute this problem.This instrument hopes to control the step-motor regularly ,and collects the datum of the distance between the laser sensor and the wall simultaneously, then calculates area according to the theory of triangle, finally sums up all the area and makes the output. According to this idea, this paper first introduces the basic technology to design the instrument.It includes the theory of the laser, measures to survey distance with laser, the theory of the step-motor, subsection technology of the step-motor, the working theory of the single-chip, expansion of the single-chip orderly. The following are the design of the control system of the planimeter according to the principle of the context .it consists of two parts. One is hardware design, parameters of the elements are calculated strictly In this section .Then the appropriate elements are selected.The other are software design. It includes follow chart, programme and explanation of the program. The last are the summarization of the planimeter design and expectation analysis.
