At present, there are many FEM methods research on soil-nailed wall. However, these methods still can not simulate it accurately. A discrete two-dimensional (2-D) finite element model (FEM) has been developed for the analysis of soil-nailed structures. The reinforcement of soiled nailing and mutual effect between nail and soil are considered. The contact behaviors between nails and soil are simulated by friction contact, which kind of contact accords with practical situation of soil-nailed wallsAt first using the finite element software MARC, the vertical displacement, horizontal displacement of unstable slope and tension force of nail were calculated and analyzed. And the working principle and strain-stress performances of soil nailing are discussed on the above result.Subsequently, parametric studies are applied to examine the effects of several factors on the deformation and nail tension by FEM calculating as above. These factors include the soil-nail length, spacing, arrangement and dip. The effect principle will be discussed and generalized. At last the working principle of the forepling bolts used for major anti-sliding measure in soil nailing retaining and protection of foundation excavation is discussed. In the discuss soil arching effect are inducted.
