The insulation structures of HV bushings and cable terminations are all of typical electric field distributing and have high demands on insulation capability. Traditional capacitance graded bushings are manufactured difficultly and need high technology level. This paper improves the structure, designs a kind of 110kV HV polymeric housed wall bushing with a new type of structure. Based on mastering the application of the finite element method and the engineering soft ANSYS applied to the electric field, the electric field intensity of different models are calculated, the optimization dimensions and improved measures are described in this paper. Also, summarizing the electric field distributing character of every important part of the insulation structure when changed the size or shape. Moreover, the calculation result is consistent with the test of a bushing sample. Referring to the bushing design, simulating the electric field of HV cable termination, improving measures of stress cone, advancing the technology request of optimizing and technics request of manufacture.
