This paper presents detailed experimental study and ANSYS nonlinearfinite element analysis of flexural performance of concrete sandwich two-waypanels reinforced by bi-steel. Firstly, by flexural tests of 3 concrete sandwich two-way panelsreinforced by bi-steel with peripheral simple-supported boundary the varyingregularity of their load-deflection curve is researched, and their deformationcharacteristics are concluded. Tests show that this kind of panels can satisfyserviceability requirement of deformation; Based on varying regularity ofstrain of steel and concrete, the load-carrying mechanism of panels is studiedand their load-carrying model is proposed; The cracking characteristics ofpanels are analyzed and compared with that of ordinary reinforced concretetwo-way slabs, and the effects of bi-steel on cracking are further summed up;With failure type and feature of panels the principal factors influencing theirflexural performance are investigated, and general suggestions about design ofpanels are offered, which can be as references for engineering application. Secondly, on the basis of experimental study described above, theultimate load-carrying capacity of panels is calculated by using elastic theoryand plastic theory of ordinary reinforced concrete two-way slabs respectively.The results indicate that elastic theory or plastic theory is available to thecalculation of ultimate load-carrying capacity of concrete sandwich two-waypanels and they are safer. Finally, by using ANSYS program nonlinear finite element analysis iscarried out. At first, with data of flexural experiments of concrete sandwichone-way panels their finite element analysis is made, which can determine thefeasibility of finite element model. And then on the basis of this, according tothis tests nonlinear finite element analysis of concrete sandwich two-waypanels is conducted from imposing loads on them to their failure. The validityof finite element analysis is proved and relevant experimental conclusions arefurther testified by comparison with experimental load-deflection curve,load-strain of steel curve and cracks distribution drawing. Above-mentioned investigation results can provide references forengineering application and further study of concrete sandwich two-waypanels reinforced by bi-steel.
