Systematical experiments on the application of polypropylene fiber to concrete is carried out in this paper to find the mechanism of physical and mechanical performance of concrete denatured by polypropylene fiber and evaluate it.The relationship of polypropylene fiber addition and mechanical performance of concrete was gained by investigating on the relation between fiber addition of polypropylene and concrete strength of compression, tension and bending, then appropriate addition of polypropylene fiber was obtained. The influence of the polypropylene fibers on concrete strength was analysed by comparing the relationship of fiber addition and mechanical performance under the same water-cement ratio and under the same slamp value. The experiments indicate that polypropylene fiber can efficiently enhance the concrete strength of compression, tension and bending. The concrete strength with addition of fiber made in Brazil is higher than that mingled with native fiber under the same water-cement ratio. The strength of concrete with addition of polypropylene fiber is lower than that without fiber under the same slamp value.Through the investigation on the infiltration and cracking of concrete with addition of polypropylene fibers.the suitable addition of polypropylene fiber to minish the infiltration, crack and autoshrinkage of concrete was gained. The experiments indicate that polypropylene can minish concrete's infiltration, cracking and autoshrinkage, and the native fiber is more efficient than that made in Brazil. All above proved that it isn't right that the finer the polypropylene fiber the better the performance of concrete. At last this paper proved polypropylene fiber can improve concrete's impact capability and extend capability through experiments on impact resist capability and elasticity module.
