Tiger Leaping Gorge Hydroelectric Power Station, located at the boundary between LiJiang autonomous prefecture and Diqing autonomous prefecture of the northwestard of YunNan province, is the regulating reservoir on Jinshajiang river.Rock mass Engneering Reaction is the reaction on rock mass by engineering load acted. The study of engineering reaction is one of significant problems in engineering geology field.The engineering reaction study is based on the reseach of engineering geology condition. Therefore, the deformation mode of compound deformation rock mass on right dam abutment first is analysed before the engineering reaction is studied. Compound deformation on right dam abutment is the result from three deformation modes acting together. The three deformation modes are pressing-plastic fluxion rip mode, toppling-tensional and shearing fracture mode, stress release-tensional fracture mode.Lithology, landform and rock mass structure are dominating factors of rock mass deformation. The discription of rock mass structure is one of keystones in the dissertation. That computer technology simulates spacial distribution of constructional surface and that directed body theory researchs assembled form of rock blocks are applied. Meanwhile, the ANSYS software of FEM is applied for numerical analysis to rock mass deformation process on dam abutment.The engineering reaction analysis is divided stability analysis of high rock slope and deformation and skidresistance of rock mass on dam abutment. The former includes that FEM stimulation is applied stability analysis of the whole slope and contact FEM is applied tability analysis of the rock blocks of slope. 2-D contact FEM analysis is applied for the latter.The study approach emphasizes on qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis together, traditional evaluating means and computing technology together.
