The safe operation of the speed regulating system is the important prerequisite of the safe operation of generators and even entire electrical network. Along with the development of system to big unit and big electrical network, it has put forward higher requirement for the automation of the operation of power station. Therefore, fast accurate and overall fault diagnosis becomes an urgent need. There are more measure dates in the unit of hydropower generator. Measurement points spread in the different locations of unit. General measurement techniques will bring maximum difficulty, for generator is also a strong electromagnetism disturbs source. It will be helpful for the accurate collection of signal of hydropower generator by using intelligent sensor, and create favorable condition for further fault diagnosis. It also has theoretical and actual project value for the research of intelligent sensor applied in the system of hydropower generator.In the paper, fault conditions and the operation characteristics of hydropower generator are analyzed on the foundation of having looked up plenty of technical document. The intelligent sensor with data communication bus line and IEEE802.3 communication agreement are adopt. The technical characteristic of IEEE802.3 communication agreements is elaborated. The scheme that makes DM9008 as the intelligent sensor of network control chip is adopt by comparison. The network intelligent sensor experiment circuit that issues the real time of field data of sensor to network is used. And the website on network (systematic machine) can real time takes over field data. The expected research purpose is reached. The hardware and software with 80186 as CPU of intelligence sensor is designed. The integrated degree of hardware of Network intelligent sensor system is high. Software design adopts 8086 assembly languages completely, which makes executive time short, and improves efficiency. This network intelligent sensor all function of physical layer and data link layer and part of user layer are realized. Data communication method satisfies the control agreement CSMA/CD, which realized that network intelligent sensor communicates with 10M Ethernet directly on the spot. This design has established project application foundation to realize the fault detection of the unit of hydropower generator.
