In this thesis, the feature of fault information on HV transmission network has been firstly studied. A method of analysis and diagnosis on the network fault which based on fault recorder information associated with the network is proposed. This method is made up of the central dispatch station and the separated dispatch station. The information of fault recorder and microprocessor-based protection is collected which directly brought up to the central dispatch station, the central dispatch station deals with the information together. By the conclusion of central station method, a system of analysis and diagnosis on the HV transmission network which based on the theory of multitude intelligence agent is proposed.Secondly the present fault location on HV transmission network has been commented on . Tree fault location methods based on the power frequency fault data of two-terminal are proposed. The main tasks of this thesis are as follows: (1) A two-terminal fault location arithmetic based on the synchronization sampling of GPS has been brought up. (2) Because of the cost of GPS and the truth that there is phase difference of two-terminal, the two-terminal fault location arithmetic is faced up with facts that how to keep the sampling data of two-terminal synchronous. According to that, two new methods are proposed, which don't need the synchronized sampling data of two-terminal. One is based on Powell direction acceleration theory. The other is based on genetic arithmetic. Simulation results show that the results could be got easily, stably accurately by three methods, which is totally not affected by the type of fault, transition resistance, system parameters and avoiding the fake root problem.
