Collapsible loess is one of the most widely ranged zonal soils in our country. It covers nearly 60% of the total area of loess in China, which mainly distributes in the middle and downstream of Yellow River. Since the reformation and opening, especially the great development of the West-china, civil engineering has developed rapidly in large scales in the middle and western area. While our country is a developing country, how to economize the engineering investment under the premise of engineering quality is very important because of the shortage of construction funds. As lime is a kind of low-priced construction material, using lime-loess cushion and lime-loess compaction pile to treat c ollapsible 1oess foundations can gain good technology economy effect. The significance of the study on lime is great in both theory and engineering practice. The engineering application and the study on lime-loess are still far behind other branches of the homogeneous subject even though rapid progress has taken place in this area.Through a large number of unconfined compression tests and triaxial compression tests ,the strength property and the water-stability of the lime-loess was analyzed. Some laws about the strength property of the lime-loess with different lime content and compaction work varying with time were developed. Considering the possibility to improve the properties of the lime-loess , certain experiments about the strength and water-stability of cement-lime-loess was done. Some properties of the cement-lime-loess was developed and used in practice.Illuminated by the methods in which Chen Huifa used to study on the constitutive relationship of concrete, the author raised the failure model of cementation shaft when studying on the constitutive relationship of lime-loess.The result of the calculation and analysis is valuable to designer and builder.
