The Permanent Magnet Brushless DC Motor (PM-BLDCM) has many advantages by its characteristics such as fast response, easiness to control, reliability, smaller volume, lighter weight, energy saving, high efficiency, high adaptability in rough environment and low cost etc. Because of all above these merits, it has been used more and more in lots of field including the medical machine, instruments and meters, chemical industry, spinning industry and home electrical machines. The subject this paper present is to research and improve the performance of PM-BLDCM.At the beginning, we illustrate the fundamental components, the basic working principle, and mathematical model of PM-BLDCM. Then the control strategy is introduced at the aspect of control theory. The key point of this paper is to describe the design of hardware in the analog and digital control systems and the way to improve its performance. In this part, the design and theory of the main loop, the controller, the inspection and measurement of current and the circuit of orientation of rotor position in the analog control system are presented in detail. The theory of load experiment device and the experiment result are introduced as well. By the analysis of the data we got, it can be proved that the controller based on the special chip for motor control has relatively good performance to satisfy the application in many fields. At the meantime, there are the problems about the pulsating torque output and EMI existed in the controller and we analyze the causes. Aim at these shortages, we bring forward the solution based on the ADMCF340 (special DSP for the control) . In the digital control system, we adopted a new method of SVPWM control via six discrete signals from the Hall sensor and the digital PID control. The theories and application about the two methods are also introduced. At the end of the paper, we present the principle block diagram of the control strategy and the block diagram of the circuit design.
