Direct Torque Control (DTC) is a new method of the AC motor control, it came out in 1970s and was developed in the middle of 1980s. It is a second high performance AC motor control method after the Vector Control. Now it is an active field. Some problems of it are discussed in this paper. The core of the system mentioned in this paper is the digital signal processor (DSP) and intelligent power module (IPM). It use optimized voltage vectors to control the inverter. Some improvements are made in the paper, such as the observation of magnetic field. A lot of work is done on the compensation of dead band of SVPWM, and some use results are got. The author has done some work on the software and the hardware debug, and the control system is applied on a 1/4 horse power AC motor. From the result we can see good performance.
