A FEM(Finite Element Method) governing equation for 3-D unsteady seepage problems, based on basic seepage equation, is presented by applying the Galerkin method and can be applied in simulating 3-D seepage problems. In solving the transint seepage problems, the software Seep3D is used. The conception—dewatering eigenvalue, which can externalize the effects of seepage on fondation excavation and provide a criterion for quantity analysis, is put forward by analyzing excavation processes and generalizing all effective factors.Through change the values of varies of parameters, The effects of the parameters on the dewatering eigenvalues are obtained by a large mount of calculations on seepage on fundation pit excavation. By systematical analysis, the criterion on determining the parameters rationally is obtained and can be refered in pratical fundation pit engineerings.
