Investigation Of Emulsifying Methanol In Diesel As Fuel

This paper is systematically concerned with the technology of methanol in Diesel emulsions. Not only has a blend of conventional surfactants been verified, but a special emulsifying agent on the basis of compouned copotymer is developed as well. Though the former can emulsify methanol in Diesel, but the quantity needed is fairly larger and the product of methanol in Diesel less stable. The latter, a novel composition, will be feasble in production of methanol in diesel. In addition, technics of emulsification and properties of emulsion are also investigated.In this paper, tests have been carried on swirlchamber and D.I. engines fueled with methanol in diesel emulsions. The effects of using different prportion of methanol in Diesel emulsions are shoun. According to the p-φdiagram, the combustion characteristics, including ignition delay, combustion pressure, pressure-rising rate, temperature, combustion period, heat release, ther moefficiency and etc, are investigated for different proportion of methanol in Diesel emulsions.
