Eddy flow discharge grotto is a new type of unload energy structure, which is come from diversion cavity. This type of discharge grotto is made up of top water diversion grotto,vertical well,spin structure,unload energy room and discharge cavity and so on. Through the rebuild of the right-bank discharge grotto in the Gongboxia hydropower station, from technology,economy,geology,construction and the practical station in the Gongboxia hydropower station, this article make a contrast between the scheme of "Dragon Look Up" discharge grotto and the scheme of eddy flow discharge grotto and draw a conclusion that in the construction of the right-bank discharge grotto adapting eddy flow discharge grotto is feasible. Combine with the characteristic and type of eddy flow discharge grotto, it mainly demonstrate the scheme of horizontal eddy flow discharge grotto is better than vertical well eddy flow discharge grotto in the application of Gongboxia hydropower station.There is no any example at domestic in the facet of horizontal eddy flow discharge grotto. Its theory of unload energy mainly embody three aspects as follows: revolve flow speed of spin movement along radial has bigger variety grads, different flow surface have large shear force, make water body exchange gas,collide consume a majority of energy, such as the power ratio of spin construction is more than per 30 to 40; the movement track ds of water particle is further more than the length dx of eddy flow grotto, equal to extend the length of eddy flow grotto, increase the loss of resistance along its tracks; the movement of revolve water come into being plus force, up to increase fiction resistance in the surface of eddy flow grotto.Through analyze water flow condition,flood discharge capacity,distribution of spin intension of eddy flow discharge grotto and discuss the method of calculation about vertical well eddy flow discharge grotto. On the base of a large amount of experience, optimize the structure of flood discharge. Bring forward optimum scheme of horizontal eddy flow discharge grotto in the right-bank of Gongboxia hydropower station, at the same time analyze the hydraulics characteristics of horizontal eddy flow discharge grotto in the Gongboxia hydropower station, for example flood discharge capacity,baffle ratio,exchange gas capacity,distribution of gas chroma,distribution of velocity of flow,average stress per time and distribution characteristics of fluctuation pressure and so forth. Through the calculation of horizontal eddy flow discharge grotto, derive the flood discharge capacity of horizontal eddy flow discharge grotto, and conclude that the calculation is fundamentally accord with result in experience. The scheme of horizontal eddy flow grotto is a successful application in the right bank of Gongboxia hydropower station, its returns make an active effect on the research and application of domestic eddy flow unload energy structure.
