It's very cold in winter in north of China. Cold climate always makes the drivers of motorcycle frozen in hands and legs , and feedback for dangerous situation be slow. Most of the drivers who work longtime in this condition have arthritis. This problem limits the use and sales of motorcycle in north of China. In this paper, the study utilizing the waste heat of motorcycle engine was carried out for certain motorcycle. The main work is as the following. Heat exchangers are the key parts of heating-equipments, so this paper mainly study the heat exchangers for heating-equipment of motorcycle. Analyze the characters of the motorcycle heating-equipment, compare the different types of heat exchangers, then finish the choice of types of heat exchangers. The tube-type heat exchangers were chosen as the basic type of heat exchangers. According the similitude theory, quantity of heat of the three type of tube-type heat exchangers were calculated and analyzed using the formulas. Based on the characters of the motorcycle, choose the shell and tube heat exchangers as the final type of heat exchangers for the heating-equipment of motorcycle.According the characters and needs of the motorcycle, two form shell and tube heat exchangers were designed.. The difference between the two schemes is that the arrangement of the gas in the two sides of tube is adverse. According the different characters of two schemes, design the structure of the heat exchangers and modeling in UGâ…¡ software. Based on the designed structure of heat exchangers, calculate the flow resistance of the heat exchangers, meanwhile comparing the flow resistance with the vent-pipe of the test motorcycle.In order to validate the calculation results of quantity of heat and flow resistance using the formulas, and deeply realize the process and mechanism of convective heat transfer, build the FEA model of scheme 1 in ANSYS software. The couple analysis of fluid and heat were carried out, some conclusions were achieved.The experiments of quantity of heat, flow resistance and noise were done for the prototype of designed heat exchangers. According the result of experiment, modify heat exchangers. The CFD analysis of heat exchangers and experiment of modified heating-equipment show that the designed heating-equipment of motorcycle is available.
