With stepwise implementation of 'Separation of Network Operations and Generation, and Making Electric Generation Market Competition in power plant' electricity market mechanism, it becomes an effective method to enhance competitiveness for power plant reducing its operation cost through energy conservation. The ball type pulverizer system is widely used in power plant in China because of its better coal type adaptability, easy maintenance and high reliability. However, it's primary disadvantage is diseconomy and high specific consumption, usually account for 15 percent to 20 percent of station service system. It's not only a big consumer of power plant, but also a big potential energy conservation unit.The ball type pulverizer system not only bears high specific consumption, but also has many disadvantages such as low automatization level, worse control quality, simplification of optimization method etc, its operation optimization becomes a concerned problem both for the operation department and design department all the time. A operation optimization method is presented in this paper based on the system identification theory. By selecting data upon orthogonal test, a system performance model can be acquired within the given model sort through system identification method. Further, verifying the model to assure its reliability and validity, then it can be utilized to obtain the optimal values of controlled parameters within the range of available values.This novel method can avoid difficulties of mechanism modeling when searching for the system input-output characters, and the disadvantages of big data sample space for Manual Neural Network. It has specific significance and application value for operation optimization and energy conservation of ball type pulverizer system in power plant.
