In order to improve economic benefit and adapt to market competition, high speed train is development tendency of the railway. Aimed at the rolling noise which is the main source in railway noise, lots researches are done in this field. In this paper, firstly, the Remington's model of wheel-rail noise is introduced. The modal analysis of the wheel is done using the software ANSYS. Calculate the wheel mobility and the vibration velocity spectrum of the wheel and rail is calculated. Then according the principle of the statistical energy analysis method, the wheel rail system is divided into five subsystems: subsystem of rail's vertical vibration, subsystem of rail's lateral vibration, subsystem of wheel's vertical vibration, subsystem of wheel's lateral vibration and subsystem of acoustic space, and the SEA model of wheel-rail vibration is built. Then the power flow equation between the subsystems is defined. Evaluating the parameters of the subsystems: the mode density, damping loss factor, coupling loss factor and the input power from the external sources of excitation. Lastly, the application of AutoSEA in wheel-rail vibration and noise is studied, and the wheel-rail noise is predicted. The results show that the wayside noise increases 8dB ~12dB, if the train velocity double; and increases 3dB, if the distance far away from the track double; damping loss factor of wheel and rail and acoustic space increase, the wayside noise decreases; coupling loss factor increase of wheel and rail, the wayside noise increase.
