The two-dimensional and one-way flow past circular cylinder ,as a kind of classical and modern flow form in hydrodynamics, is been receiving the extensive concerns of engineering academic circles all the time. This paper uses the advanced measuring instrument to make researches on this kind of flow through the experiment method.First, we use the Micro Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter made by Sontek company of American (Micro ADV), make researches on the two-dimensional and one-way flow past circular cylinder in symmetrical flowing water, and gain the eigenvalue of time-average velocity distribution and the eigenvalue of turbulence distribution. Then, we apply PIV to measure and show the instantaneous eigenvalue of the flow field. The experiments with the forming, progression and evolvement of the flow past circular cylinder under several different clearance ratios are done, and lots of valuable data are gained. The results of the experiments are as follows:(1) A large number of valuable pictures which reflect the process of vortex's development in the wake are taken through the advanced PIV(2) The time-average velocity and turbulence distribution of the inlet flow measured by ADV are given, the turbulence intensity and Reynolds stress are also given.(3) The time-average flow line and the vortices distribution are gained through analysis of the flow field.(4) The vortex shedding process in the wake behind the cylinder is described in detail, the relation of Strouhal number and Reynolds number chart is got, and further the topological structure of the vortex is analyzed by topology method.
