The phenomenon is ubiquitous that the concrete cracks appear in pier of RC structure. Causation and position of crack are complicated, so that it is a little difficult to analyze cracks of pier. The reasons of crack perhaps various, sometimes temperature is the primary factor. Once some people think that temperature stress is not enough great in pie and it can be ignored, in fact concrete cracks appear in pier is familiar, so that it is necessary to take temperature as important factor in cracks analysis. The paper is based on a practical engineering, including seven chapters. Focused on reasons of pier crack, this paper performed in-depth study and discussion with FEM theory and ANSYS software. Based on the reason of crack, three reinforcement projects are recommended to restrict development of crack. This paper's study contents are as follows in detail:1) Above all on the basis of the primary concepts of thermal conduction and thermal physical property of concrete material, the causes resulting in temperature stress of the concrete structures are analyzed.2) Base on different analysis aims, four FEM model are set up. At first, without regard to temperature, calculate structure's stress and look for the reason of crack.3) A compute model for the temperature stress of concrete structures is set up by ANSYS software,a concrete structure with temperature load is analyzed.4) After current state analysis of pier, make a judgment about possibility of crack sustained growing.5) Because of fatalness of crack, three reinforcement projects are recommended. Reinforcement project's effects are compared and the best one is selected.6) Make a analysis about relation between the steel plate and reinforcement effect, reasonable and economical collocation of steel plate is adopted.
