Membranes separation technology developed so rapidly during the last 30 years. Compared with the traditionary separation technology, membrane technology has the merit of little investment, high efficiency, easy operation and low environment polluting, etc. So it find increasing application in a lot of industry friends such as Chemical Engineering, Electron, Medication, Environment protection, and so on. According to the different separation theory, Membrane technology used by industry can be divided into four kind, they are Microfiltration (MF), Utrafiltration (UF), Nanofiltration (NF) and Reverse osmosis(RO). UF is a process at the boundary between NF and RO, it has been used in food industry, medication and water industry with large-scale. Its typical application is to separate high molecule substance and colloid. Now most of commercial UF membranes are made by phase transfer technique with polymer materials. Here we use the basic material of cellulose acetate (CA) to produce the UF membrane by the phase transformation technique. We also discuss some of factors in producing process such as the kind of organic solvent, the concentration of polymer, the additives and membrane fouling, which all can influence the membrane's separation character. Through before-mentioned factors discussing, we can choose the right operation condition according to our mainly purpose.CA simplex solvent membrane can't resist the corruption caused by acid and alkali, and it can also be eroded by microorganism. So we choose an environment friendly material of Chitosan as the second ingredient to prepare the blend membrane. We show the advantage and disadvantage compared with simplex membrane by some examples of their applications in dye waste water discolor, protein concentration and lignin remove in paper making and pulping industry.
