Aiming at the safety problem of vehicle driving, this thesis studies a machine vision system that can be used by Intelligent Vehicle and presents a design scheme about machine vision based on DSP. Then the system is implemented with hardware including DSP, video input processor etc. Meanwhile, all interface programs are written, too. Finally, the system is debugged successfully, and all results are correct.Above all, this thesis proves the necessity of the research about machine vision of Intelligent Vehicle, the feasibility of the technology and its developing trends, and then introduces the several important elements of the system. Secondly, it discuses the origin, development and methods of the DSP technologies, and expatiates the features of DSP and its designed process. Meantime, its main features, hardware source and software source of TMS320C6201 EVM are introduced briefly.After studying the technologies of DSP and the theories of machine vision deeply, this thesis discusses an image processing system based of TMS320C6201 EVM to verify ours algorithms of DSP and the feasibility of the system design. Through a series of experiments, they can prove the real-time requirements of system are satisfied and the system design is also feasible. On the basis of those experiments and the selected principles of DSP, we choose the TMS320VC5416 as the kernel processor of system, and then also confirm other sections design.After a lot of pre-research, the design project is presented that the TMS320VC5416 works as the central processor to process the images, the video input processor performs image acquisition and the IDE hard disk is used as the mass storage etc. Then circuit schematics and print circuit boards are designed. The acquired images of the system are stored in the dual-RAM. If one frame is finished, an interrupt signal will be sent to DSP. Then DSP reads these data, processes them rapidly and calculates the distance. If the distance is less than safety distance, the voice alarm unit will be started by DSP.This thesis also explains the image processing algorithms of DSP in detail. Interface programs of all sections and FLASH programming methods etc. are introduced specially and some source codes are given, too. At last, software tools of DSP are introduced.
