Helical spring mass system (HSMS) is widely used in almost all of mechanical and electrical products due to its structure feature and elastic buffer ability. Being a general component, its performance indexes especially those about intensity and reliability are broadly concerned by specialists ^ scholars and engineering technicians all over the world. It is more attractive but not deeply discussed to talk about the reliability design of HSMS under impact load. Seen the gap up to international developed level from us. The research on this is truly helpful in theory and reference to in crease the reliability and work life of mechanical and electrical equip. The thought of this paper is to discuss on and analysis to dynamic response of HSMS under impact load, and estimate its mean life based on noted stress fatigue design method.The main work of this article is present a math model of HSMS under impulse load. Discuss on the concrete determine way about its boundary conditions, and ask the correctness and limitation of its characteristics resolution, Which get some novel conclusions; put forward a practical and useful approximate calculation means dividing dynamic response into instantaneous and steady response, which mends the short coming of former numerical value computation, and has odd opinions. Finish first time the estimate to the work life of HSMS under impact load rely on fairly complete and accurate stress spectrum, combining to bomb transmitter of 57 cm cannon, the dynamic response and mean life of it is calculated.There are some broken points that make melt and agreement between mechanical dynamics and elastic dynamics upon spring research, and add some newer, more accurate and more plentiful contents to elastic dynamics and reliability design about spring.
