Based on the construction of Qinhuangdao-Shenyang high-speed railway special for passenger transport, some key construction techniques for overhead contact line (OCL) in high-speed electric railway are studied in the paper via a lot of engineering practice and experience summary. These techniques include surveying method, foundation installation, and structure calculation of supports, as well as installation of OCL, arrangement of OCL with constant tensile force, integrated dropper and combined steady arm installing techniques. The technical characteristics, construction methods, construction management and technical requirement are studied for OCL construction in high-speed electric railway. Based on researches, the paper indicates that some construction techniques used in route electric railway is not suit for high-speed electric railway. Meanwhile, some novel techniques and management methods for OCL construction in high-speed railway are proposed. On the bases of construction technique characteristics of OCL in high-speed railway, some structure calculation software, which is cantilever, integrated dropper and combined steady arm of OCL is developed. And some pictures form construction sites are given in the paper.The application to construction of OCL indicates that the research results can optimal construction arrangement, improve construction method and quality, decrease investment and construction period. These research results establish the foundation for studying the construction techniques of OCL in high-speed railway further.
