The high-temperature phase change thermal energy storage electric heater is a kind of novel heating equipment. It can storage thermal energy during off peak periods of electricity to provide heating all day long. This kind of heater can shift electricity from peak periods to off peak periods, thus it can increase the using time of generators. What's more, it can make full use of evening electricity to save operating cost of heating. The high-temperature phase change material TH576 is chosen as the thermal energy storage material by testing and analysing its thermal performance. TH576 have adventages such as high latent heat, excellent heat conducting performance and abundant raw material etc. The problem of corrosion is successfully solved by using the ceramic container and the ceramic thimble electric heater. The ideal heat insulating material is found to meet the requirement of low thermal conducticity and no smell when its temperature is high. The high-temperature phase change thermal energy storage electric heater is made, and its thermal performance is tested in our lab. The results show that the heat storage efficiency of the heater is high, TH576's temperature and releasing heat rate have flat periods during charging and discharging processes, the heater's thermal performance is stable. The fin can obviously enhance releasing heat rate. The air door can adjust heat discharging power. The electric heater's heating effect is tested in two user's rooms. The results show that it can increase the room's temperature and the temperature's fluctuation is low, and it can make full use of the cheap electricity to meet heating all day long. The economy of the thermal energy storage electric heater is analyzed, and it can greatly save operating cost of heating.The thesis covers seven chapters.Chapter one introduces the background of the research and reviews the recent investigation relating to the research on high-temperature phase change thermal energy storage electric heater in the literature available. The main goal of this thesis and the importance of the research are stated.In chapter two, the preparation of high-temperature phase change material is investigated. TH576's phase change temperature, latent heat and thermal steady performance are tested. The consistent performance between TH576 and the metallic container is researched.In chapter three, the heater's structural design, ascertain of designing parameters and making are addressed.Chapter four presents the experimental research on the heater. The experimental sample is built in our lab. The thermal performance of the heater is researched. In chapter five, the heating effect is tested by two user's tests. The room temperatures and the electricity consumptions are tested, and the heating effects are evaluated.Chapter six introduces the advantages and disadvantages of the electric heater, analyzes the heating cost of all kinds of electric heating used in Beijing, and compares the operating cost of the high-temperature phase change thermal energy storage electric heater with general electric heater.In the last chapter, that is chapter seven, the conclusions of the research are made and the further research work is suggested.
