Surface reconstruction is one of key techniques in reverse engineering. Based on the actual needs of surface remodeling from unorganized discrete points set, this dissertation studied some related problems, such as measured data preprocessing, triangulation, surface reconstruction. The main research works and contributions of this dissertation are as follows:Spatial mesh Simplification technology :An algorithm for mesh Simplification with bounded error is put forward. Based on edge- collapse operation, through selecting examining points properly from original mesh and creating collapse sequence, the algorithm could make the simplified mesh keep the most character of original mesh with great compress ratio.The 3D triangular of unorganized discrete points: The 3D triangulation and its comprehensive optimization were studied. In the process of 3D triangulation, a kind of advancing front technique was adopted, that is starting from the boundaries of initial triangles, and then expanding the boundaries according to the points' distribution was iteratively done till they became closed. The optimization was realized by respectively considering triangular shape and the meshes' configuration, started from the initial meshes and finally gotten both result.Surface reconstruction based on fitness theory: this method demand that the surface reconstructed by the method pass through the points after simplified procedure and be closed with the point which be simplified. The research is mainly deal with three problems. The first is how to determine boundary curve of surface in triangular domain and after deducing, simultaneous equations is proposed in the dissertation. The second is how to determine the coupling parameter. The third is present simultaneous equations in order to obtain G1 continuous considering the continuity between two triangular patches and the fitness rules.
