This paper mainly researches a high voltage insulator contaminant on-line detector of low power consumption based on SMS (Short Message Service) .With the quick development of modern industry, the increasing of power net capacity and the improvement of voltage class, environmental pollution is increasingly serious. The frequency of high voltage insulator contaminant flashover occurrence increase not only extends the scope, but also endangers the degree. Though this trouble occupies the second of all of trouble in power net of timers, which only next to thunder and lightening, this trouble result in loss is decuple of the thunder and lightening trouble. All of these show that high voltage insulator contaminate flashover is a serious threat to the safe movement of the electric power net.The occurrence of high voltage insulator contaminant flashover is relevant to the electric net voltage, contaminant degree and environment parameter etc. The effective method to monitor insulator contaminant degree is to measure the leakage current and its frequency of the insulator. Textual research is measuring the temperature and humidity based on the measure means introduced above, and via the information of SMS to bedelivered to upper computer system far away to analyses and handle with, to realize high voltage insulator contaminate real-time on-line detection, alarm, predication and fast breakdown point fixed position .The high voltage insulator contaminant detection equipment of low power consumption introduced in this paper is achieved by ultra-low power consumption Mixed Signal Processor invented by TI Company. In order to carry out the utilities introduced above, the detection equipment can detect the value of leakage current and its pulse frequency, some environment parameters such as the temperature and the humidity, it can process data exchanging and control agreement with upper-computer via SMS by using the industry GSM communication model. Very low power consumption circuit is realized through solar energy, the design of the reliability problem is related to the system software and hardware.Now there have been the similar devices abroad, some local scientific research department is placed in research stage. This paper aim is to avoid the occurrence of accidences which resulted from high voltage insulator contaminant, and to provide a kind of new path of solution for the reliable movement in safety of the electric power net.
