Ship lines make a decisive role in the shape of a ship. At present, the designing process is usually based on parent ship lines and systematic test of ship models. Some experienced engineers can make a better design by their rich experience. In recent years, mathematical method and computer technology have improved a lot in shipbuilding industry. The intelligent expert system based on knowledge library is a very efficient tool of designing excellent ship lines. Out consideration of such a trend, this article apply the prominent performance of NURBS, especially that for amending partially in ship lines designing to work out control point by given points so that we can get smooth ship lines and cut down the trouble of modification. After some research work, the article brought out a set of intelligent systems and completed the work of designing coding and testing. With the help of the software, designing process of ship lines seems easier to perform. The system based on VB IDE has combined database and graphic system and has made it possible and convenient to amend alternately. In Visual Basic, there are three kinds of interface of data access: ADO, RDO and DAO. This article has done some research work with the three methods before the design. It stores, arranges and transfers the table offset of ship; in this way, parameters can be transferred through different platforms. After this process, the product from AutoCAD will be given illumination and specific material. The system will work all through the designing process, just like doing this job with the help of an experienced technologist and it makes it likely to design excellent ship lines in a very short time.
