Water power computing for the architectural water supply and drainage is the key issue in design and construction of architectural water supply and drainage, among which the nominal water flow computing is the major reference for choosing pipe diameters and calculating pressure losses. Meanwhile, the computing of the nominal water flow per second in architectural water supply also affects the computing of water drainage and hot-water supply in the buildings, which in turn influences the engineering cost of the water supply and drainage system. Improper heightening the nominal per-second water flow will increase the consumption of both pipes and electric power for the system; vice versa, unreasonable lowering of it will cause damage to the water power circumstances, bring water supply interruption, so fail to ensure the usual usage of water. This thesis analyzes and compares between the theories and approaches of the square-root computing method now adopted by our country and the probability method by western developed countries for the nominal per-second water flow in architectural water supply design. And we think that the square-root method does not take such factors as the probability of the toilet water drainage into account of the influence on nominal flow design, and hence, brings a result on the bigger side. Water equipments in architectural water supply systems fall in a property of probability characteristic while operating, thus, it is more rational to compute with probability method. At the same time, we also present concrete computing method as well as the probability values for the toilet water drainage. Different water utilization ratios of different toilet devices do impact on the computing results of the nominal per-second water flow. And our country should carry out work of parameter identification and practical measurement in the probability method-computing field.Combined with the water usage characteristics by student apartments in colleges and universities and based on the comparison of computation results of the probability method and of the square-root method, a scientific engineering scheme for water supply and drainage is provided.
