Arched corrugated metal roof (ACMR) is a kind of typical cold-formed thin-walled steel structure. It has powerful competitive capacity and huge application markets in our country for all of its advantages, such as strong spanning ability, light self-weight, attractive configuration, fast and easy construction etc. Nevertheless, for some reasons, its research work lags far behind its engineering practice seriously all over the world. At the present time, some research on the static behavior has been carried out, but the analysis on the dynamic property and dynamic responses are less reported in relative publications. The work of this paper is just developed under the background.1. FEA method for dynamics and calculating models for the structure. Introduce the FEA method for Dynamics, and then deduce the element stiffness matrix, mass matrix and damping matrix. Then we can get the motion equation for discrete structure. After that, the plane arch model and the space shell model used in the paper are definitely built. 2. Study on the dynamic property of ACMR. The dynamic property is the basis of the analysis on the dynamic responses. In this paper two methods are adopted to analyze the dynamic property: programming by Fortran using arch model by the method of Generalized Jacobi and Subspace in order to compare its results with the tests, the preprocessor and postprocessor of the program are realized by Visual Basic; FEA analysis by ANSYS using shell model in order to compare its results with the program results. From the comparison we can verify the validity of the arch model. The structure parameters that influence the dynamic property are also discussed. 3. Study on the dynamic responses of ACMR under earthquake. The paper analyzes the dynamic responses by programming in the method of Wilson and Newmark using the plane arch model, also the structure parameters that influence the dynamic responses are discussed. From the analysis we can conclude the dynamic responses aren't the control factor of the structure design. 4. Study on the wind-induced dynamic responses of ACMR in frequency domain. From the analysis, the wind vibration coefficient is got and displacement response power spectrum density is also gained. In the part, the shell model is employed in the ANSYS to simulate the structure; the PSD method is used to calculate the dynamic responses. 5. Study on the wind-induced dynamic responses of ACMR in time domain. First, the wind simulation of the structure by AR model is carried. Then, the TRANS method in the ANSYS is used to calculate the dynamic responses in time domain to compare the results with those in frequency domain in order to verify the validity of the two methods.
