Energy source plays an important role in the development of national economy, so exploiting energy source fully and reasonably and saving it can not only reduce the cost of national production remarkably but also benefit to the development of national economy. Electric power, as the best one in secondary energy, is the foundation of economy. For electric utilities, security and reducing line loss are the main concerns, and the line loss is an important technical index for assessing their technique and management levels, moreover, in practical operation reducing line loss is also an effective measure and approach for improving the economic benefits. Aiming at reducing line loss, firstly, this paper investigates the theory and measurements about line loss, and then proposes a scheme that is based on a practical project in author's utility and adopted practical parameter and data. By applying it in the practical project, the validity and merit of this scheme in reducing network loss and the cost of power supply are proved. This paper discusses the origin of line loss and its analyzing method, compares the measurement for reducing line loss in practical distribution network and factors influencing the variation of line loss, and investigates the theory using for analyzing line loss. After studying a practical distribution network by applying the theoretics and comparing with the practical operation experiences, this paper proposes some particular measures and approaches for reducing the line loss of this practical distribution network. Of course, the application testifies the validity and feasibility of the scheme.
