Preparation And Characterization Of Both Al₂O₃ Porous Ceramic Supports And Micro-filtration Membrane

The inorganic membrane has many advantages in separate technology, for example, operation in normal temperature, without phase change, nonexistence chemical change, simple equipment, ease operation,higher separate efficiency, economizing energy resources as well as no pollutant. So, inorganic membrane can be used in the fields of weave, chemical engineering, electric power, foodstuff, metallurgy, petroleum, mechanism, biology, pharmacy, ferment. Based on above-mentioned, many scientists have paid attention to the study of both inorganic membrane and its separate technology. Based on the references, both the application field and preparation methods for inorganic membrane are summarized in this paper. Although a lot of application researches for inorganic membrane are reported in literature, there is a lack of the preparation methods of supports for membrane. The qualities of supports have obvious effects on both preparation and molding of the layer of inorganic membrane. The eligible supports, with appropriate aperture and aperture distribution as well as mechanical strength, are important foundation to fabricate the layer of inorganic membrane. Considering the effect factors, the preparation methods of both supports and membrane are determined. The carbon powder, poly, self-made carbon powder, are used as pore-forming material in this paper.The experimental results show that the diameter of raw material, preparation technology of supports, both the kinds and contents of sintering aid, as well as pore-forming material have effects on properties of the supports. These factors are confirmed by means of some experiments. The forming film technology parameters, time of immerging in the film-liquid, film thickness, are experimentally made certain.According as the experiment results, both self-made alumina supports and self-made micro-filtration membrane have narrower aperture size distribution, bigger flux for water, higher strength. The experiment results can be used in industrial production. It will hasten the development of separate technology.
