The blasting process in rock is described under the two circumstances which include in infinite medium and free face existed, the propagation character and decay law of explosion stress wave is analyzed. The blasting mechanism of linear charge in the condition of coupled charge or uncoupled charge is studied. On the basis of influencing factor analyzed in rock, the linear charge is studied and the calculation equation in the zone of action of explosion wave propagating in rock is put forward. The research technique is put forward, that is, columniation stress wave can be regarded as cylinder stress wave and the end stress wave as spherical wave, and the perfect stress attenuation formula in radical direction i s established in complete elastic medium. On the foundation, the perfect stress attenuation formula in linear charge blasting has been reduced and corrected. On the basis of reduced stress attenuation formula, the theoretical calculation expressions of jam lengths in hole blasting and space between charges in chamber blasting is put forward. The theoretical calculation expressions of jam lengths are verified with confirmatory test in the rock blasting in NUC, and the space between charges in chamber blasting in the construction of Yun Cheng to San Menxia Highway, and the fragmentation result is perfect, which is of great significance and applied value to the practice.
