The fast development of our country economy makes cities' railway traffic system growup, but the corresponding protection equipments are vacant in our country. This paper willdiscuss the software and hardware design of DC traction feeder micro-computer protectionequipment. At the same time, along with the increment of cities' railway transportation, it isharder and harder for the traditional protection equipments to distinguish the remote shortcircuit fault or the train starting correctly, especially for the fault with electricity arc ortransition resistance. This always results in the equipment operation time longer that it can'tcut off the short fault rapidly. Wavelet transform has the characteristic of identifying signalbreak and more differentiate analyze. It also can show signal's part character in the time andfrequency domain, so after introducing all kinds of traditional protection methods, a newmethod, which bases on the wavelet transform, is introduced to distill the characters of thetrain starting current and the fault current. Experiment indicates that this method candistinguish them correctly.
