The studies on inorganic-organic composite films of polyoxometalates have drawn more and more attention owing to their potential applications in luminescence, photochromism, magnetism, electrics and catalysis. This work deals with the preparation of the polyoxometalate-based inorganic-organic film materials. The inorganic-organic nanocomposite films of {DR/SiW11O39Co(H2P2O7)}n and {Chitosan/α-H)4SiW12O40}n 和 {Chitosan/α-H)4PMo12O40}n , were prepared by layer-by-layer technology. The components, structures and properties of these films were characterized by UV-vis spectra, X-ray photoelectron (XPS) and IR spectra, ESR measurement, atomic force microscopy(AFM), and cyclic voltammetry (CV). These measurements showed that the above-mentioned inorganic-organic components were incorporated into the composite films and their original structures and properties remained in the films. The growth processes of the assembled films were quantitative and highly reproducible from layer to layer The surfaces were smooth and were dispersed with uniform spherical particles. After UV irradiation, the ionic bonds between adjacent interface of the films {DR/SiW11O39Co(H2P2O7)}n convert to covalent bonds and the films show significant stabilities towards polar solvents. The films of {Chitosan/α-H4PMo12O40}n shows inhibition against the Escherichia coli. And we discuss the mechanism of antibacterial activities.
