GCL is a new kind of composite waterproofing geosythetics, and it has being widely used in fields of environmental and underground projects. Overseas experts have already acquire certain research on properties of GCL, but research on this product is rare in our country. In this paper, we studied the properties of GCL by means of testing, especially about the characteristic of healing. In addition, we have further searched the slope stability of solid waste landfill basing on former studies. We also bring forward a new calculation method for leakage through composite liners constructed with Geomembranes and GCL, which providing evidence to designing properly leachate collection and removal system of the solid waste landfill.The main work of this paper are these as followed:(1).This paper brief introduced the phytogeny, structure, function and merit of GCL. It described the characteristics of GCL, that is physical characteristics, hydraulic characteristics, mechanics characteristics and its durability.(2) .There are lots of fundamental factors which affecting evaluation of the hydraulic conductivity of GCL. In this paper, on the basis of analyzing swell principle, we explained the following factors which affect hydraulic conductivity of GCL on final: smectite of bentonite. aggregate size of bentonite, void ratio, chemistry component and hydrating procedure ect.(3). According as engineering practices of our nation, referring to the experiences and experimentations of overseas, we have researched the characteristics of GCL, that is free swell testing of bentona, moisture content and tensile strength, peel strength and shear strength. On basis of existing triaxial testing system, we developed one flexible wall permeameter which is used for measuring hydraulic conductivity of GCL and making use of the tester to study the current of hydraulic conductivity VS. time.(4).GCL possesses ability of self-healing well, we have studied the characteristics of healing itself, making use of testing the hydraulic conductivity of GCL sample, which owns vary hole diameters, by means of flexible wall permeameter. We found punctured GCL possessed ability of self-healing well after hydrated. And we also simply analyzed the influencing factors of ability of self-healing.(5) .Brief introduced the sort of solid waste landfill, and illuminated liner systems, cover systems, leachate collection and removal systems, gas collection and removal systems of a solid waste landfill.(6).Considering synchronously the parameters c and (?) in stability analysis, in order to reflect the fact, we have further searched slope stability of solid waste landfill which based on the former studies. On the basis of plenty of literatures referring to, we also bring forward a new calculation method for leakage through composite liners constructed with Geomembranes and GCL, which providing a calculation method for leakage through hole in Geomembranes of composite liners.
