We have prepared R3Fe29-xMx and R3Fe29-x-yCoxMy compounds ( R = Nd,Y, Er, M = Cr, V, Ti, Mn, Ga, Nb ) and together with the carbide of Er3Fe19.5Co6V3.5 compound by arc melting. The formation, structure and magnetic properties of heavy rare-earth 3:29 compounds and their carbides have been investigated by means of X-ray diffraction and magnetic measurements. Therefore we have also studied the structure and magnetocrystalline anisotropy of the (Nd1-xYx)3Fe29-yCryCompounds with x = 0-1 and y = 4-1.5.The study on Nd3Fe29-xCrx compounds show that when 4≤x≤5.5, a single phase with the Nd3(Fe,Ti)29-type structure could be formed. The effects of the substitution of Cr for Fe in Nd3Fe29-xCrx on the magnetic properties was also studied. A series of (Nd1-xErx)3Fe25Cr4.0 compounds with 0≤x≤1.0 has been synthesized and their structure and magnetic properties have been studied in detail. It can be seen that when 0≤x≤0.8, the compounds keep the Nd3(Fe,Ti)29-type structure and turn to a disordered Th2Ni17-type structure when 0.8
