The more modernization the society is, the more precious the traditional culture is in nation's mind. The specific property of Historic Cities is not only the important substantial elements of city cohesive affinity, but also the competitive advantage in course of globalization.The business is a necessary part of city development, and commercial buildings have a great effect on city space construction and specific city image for their mass character. At present, for economic benefits, the city space environment about commercial buildings exist some ubiquitous problems that are "isolation, homophyly and unilateralism". So it is means that the function and space among commercial buildings and city is entirely unrelated and can't become a whole organism.Those problems in development of commercial buildings are much in evidence in course of urban renewal, especially for Historic Cities that there have strong clash between tradition and modernism. On the one hand, commercial buildings occupy the very important position in the city construction and form and have got the important meaning to inherit and develop the specific city property. On the other hand, the dislocation between commercial buildings and city space environment make it can't undertake obligation to city and have the negative effect on specific property of historic cities. The thesis starts with the space composing and medium purport to search for some effective ways that can harmonize the architecture with city, and the traditional culture with modernization development, by introducing into the "in-between" concept of philosophy and the "in-between space" theory that one of it's derivative theories; to make commercial buildings and total environment of city blended into each other organically and aim to make commercial buildings and city space as a whole and to strengthen specificimage of Historic Cities, via designing collectively in-between space of commercial buildings including fringe space, piazza and street space, tridimensional space for walking and via organizing synthetically intermediary information of in-between space of commercial buildings including self information and inserted information, In the end, the thesis selects three kinds of representative commercial districts of Xi'an that is one of the famous Historic Cities to analyze and look for existent problems and development orientation, in order to make the study more visual and have more fulfillment meaning, and have some apocalypse on entirely constructing commercial buildings environment in Historic City.
