A whirl type separation sand sampler and a high precision small rate sand discharger have been developed by adopting a designing concept distinguished from any previous ones and the performance tests were carried out on the base of investigation into the sand sampler and sand discharger available abroad and at home at present .The results of tests showed that :(1)The iso- kinetic characteristics of the whirl type separation sand sampler is quite satisfactory and both the configuration of sand blown by the wind and the relationship between total sand conveying rate and the wind speed having been measured correspond with the conclusion broadly accepted . The average sand sampling efficiency come up to 89.49% . (2)It was obtained through testing course that the minimum sand discharging rate was 0.53g/s at the speed of discharger 6rpm. The testing result of lateral stability and longitudinal stability showed that the variation coefficient of the sand discharging stabilities in the position 0 and position 1 were in a range of6.68% and 8.67% respectively . Besides, the law that the height adjustment of sand discharging tube exerts influence on the sand conveying rate and the evenness of sand distribution on the cross section of wind tunnel were explored tentatively . The development of the sand sampler and sand discharger used for the wind tunnel provides a desirable a desirable equipment for the determination of anti – wind erosion characteristic of the farm land and grassland in our country .
