The Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) is the main power resource for auto now. Its power characteristics don't meet the characteristics of the ideal engine. So the transmission becomes the necessary part for the automobiles this type. Among these types of car's transmissions, the metal pushing V-belt continuously variable transmission (CVT) is regarded as the ideal transmission because of its ideal power transmitting character and its easy compact structure, good performance and perfect functions. CVT is regarded as one of the key technology in the development of automobile. Many famous auto companies joined the research and development of CVT, and there already have several productions appeared in the market. In recent years, CVT has been accepted by people in the fields and developed greatly. This thesis partly analyzes the characteristics of the electronic hydraulic control system of the CVT. Some related control theories and methods are introduced in detail. At last a dynamic model of the CVT system is founded. With the Simulink tool in the Matlab environment, the thesis analyzes the dynamic characteristics of the CVT system. In the first chapter, mainly discusses the function and the status of the power train, and points out that the revolution of the power train technique plays a important role in the improvement of the whole auto performance. In the following, the simple development history, actuality and the future of CVT. Then the main structure, parts and working theories are introduced,mainly discusses some components and parameters. In the second chapter, I mainly do some work in the fields of mechanics and kinematics on CVT,and get some important results which are very necessary for the following modeling and simulation. In the third chapter,I mainly do some discussion in the fields of present popular control methods and methods on rates. Though they are not competent for large production, they can offer some actual comprehension and apocalypse. In the forth chapter, the model of the ICE has been set up (of course depends on the strive of former learner),on the same time, the model of the CVT has been set up, then some simulation has been made under the condition of some predigestion.On the other hand, some academic control methods has been introduced. But we can see there are some discrepancies between the theory and the practice, especially these open theories, there is a long way to go to meet the necessary of cosmically produces. In the fifth chapter, the ICE test has been discussed in details, and we now can see some data of it. Honestly, the result on the whole is satisfied (limited by the test condition and money). The CVT test result is fairly well compared with the anticipative result. So we can say our tests are basically success. Through these series of work and tests, I learned a lot. I feel I am not very good at the knowledge which I have learned in the books, and I am not good at practice. During the test, my teacher the test teacher and the works made learn much which are different from what I have learned from books. And made me know how much important the test is. If the following learners can get some experience and lessons through our work, our test and this article, then I think then what we have done really find its worth.
