With stricter restriction of the emission control regulations, the present technology has not satisfied the NOx emission demands of the new the emission control regulations. So someone puts forward the HCCI concept, and hopes it can solve the NOx emission of the engine combustion ultimately. HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) was put forward in 1970s, but it was not pay attention to for the limit of the control technology. In the late 1990s, HCCI combustion technology brought people's attention in the potential advantage of the fuel economy and the emission because of the limit of the emission control regulations, stricter economy demand, and the development of the engine control technology. Some research institutions and enterprises of USA, Europe and Japan have launched extensive research on HCCI. HCCI is regarded as important progress of the engine combustion technology. It's very difficult to obtain the exact and actual thermodynamic parameters or same combustion conditions every cycle because of the complicated engine combustion, heat exchange, fuel evaporation and diffusion, and the cycle alternation. So the researchers develop multifarious simulation experiment devices to investigate engine combustion progress. To solve the problem of the simulation and control on whole boundary conditions on the real engine, a new combustion simulation experiment device is developed for simulating the combustion progress and investigating combustion boundary conditions of ethanol HCCI. Since the device can simulate the combustion progresses of the different fuels and the different combustion modes, the device is named the multifunctional combustion bomb. The device is made up of the drive system, supply system, calefaction system, combustion bomb, control and data gathering system, and so on. To the characteristics of HCCI, some has been made creative progress in the fuel/air mixture formation and piston drive code. The fuel and air are mixed and become fuel/air mixture out of the cylinder by the especial device and then the mixture is heated and turns into homogeneous fuel/air mixture in the fuel/air mixture storage. The drive system is made up of the reciprocating pneumatic cylinder and the bicycle pump. The bicycle pump supplies the compressed air, and the combustion bomb piston connecting with the piston of the pneumatic cylinder by the connecting rod is put up and down to compress the fuel/air mixture to ignite as the piston of the pneumatic cylinder is up and down by the compressed air. The multifunctional combustion bomb is used to investigate fuel variety progress in detail on the chemistry kinetics, and is an ideal experiment device for the combustion mechanism research. So it is very important to the combustion mechanism research of the engine and the other combustion equipments. The multifunctional combustion bomb is a bran-new design, and there are some problems inevitably, thereby the debugging and improving of it is a very important work. All parts have achieved the design demands by the debugging and improving of the drive system, fuel supply system, calefaction system and combustion system. The velocity of the combustion bomb piston raises from approximate 0.5m/s to approximate 2.14m/s, the compression pressure raises to approximate 4.0MPa ~ 5.0MPa; The heating time of calefaction system declines from approximate 2 hours to 20 minutes; The fuel supply system can...
