Along with the development in the economy, Chinese People advance the higher demand to the building industry. They hope that the building would be more economical, the mechanical property would be more excellent, the construction period would be shorter, in the mean time, the construction process would be satisfied with the requirement of the environmental reservation.Multi-story steel framework is the most usual structural form used in the steel building. Generally, the framework of this kind of structure is composed of the steel columns and steel beams, which are paved with the composite slabs with the profiled sheeting. Compared with this traditional floor system, the cold-formed steel deck and lightweight aggregate concrete composite slabs have lots of advantages, which could not be surpassed by the traditional composite slabs.By far, there are plenty of the researches about the mechanical properties of traditional composite slabs. However, few of them have been concerned with the light-weigh aggregate concrete composite slabs. Only the architectural research institute belonging to the Chinese metallurgy bureau has carried out a few of specimen experiments. Based on such limited research, the general design rules for this kind of composite slabs could not be set down. Although some foreign countries have already regulated the rules specially concerned with the LWAC composite slabs in their design code, many mechanical properties of the LWAC, for instance, the Young's modulus (E), the characteristic strength of concrete (f_cu) are quite different from country to country. Therefore, the design rules could not be duplicated and transplanted from there directly. While the cold-formed steel deck and LWAC composite slabs certainly will soon have the wide application in china, the research work in this field is extraordinarily deficient by far. Due to the reason mentioned above, this paper concentrates it's research topic on the experimental and theoretical study of the mechanical properties about the LWAC composite slabs. In the first place, the material proportional tests are done to discuss the physical and mechanical properties of the lightweight aggregate concrete. Many factors, such as the physical characteristics of the lightweight aggregate, the content of cement and sand, the ratio of water to cement (w/c) are discussed to analyze their influence on the material...
