The stability of the underground excavation in the jointed rock mass is of great concern for the researchers, designers and construction workers. Generally speaking, besides the structure of the rock mass, the factors that influence the stability of the underground excavation in the jointed rock mass include initial stress, groundwater, earthquake and terrestrial heat and other environmental factors. The influence of the groundwater, seismic loading and the coupling of the two on the mechanical behavior of the underground excavation in the jointed rock mass is investigated. UDEC based on the Distinct Element Method is used to generate the model of the surrounding rock mass of the underground excavation in the jointed rock mass and study the mechanical behavior of the surrounding rock mass of the underground excavation in the jointed rock mass under the circumstances of the ground water, seismic loading and the coupling of the two. The main conclusions of the thesis are as follow. (1) The groundwater has influence on the mechanical behavior of the surrounding rock mass of the underground excavation in the jointed rock mass. The internal forces of the concrete liners of the surrounding rock mass of the underground excavation in the jointed rock mass increase under the influence of the groundwater compared with the case that doesn't take the consideration of the groundwater. wt, the distance between the water table and the center of the underground excavation, has great influence on the mechanical behavior of the surrounding rock mass of the underground excavation in the jointed rock mass. Generally speaking, the mechanical behavior of the surrounding rock mass of the underground excavation in the jointed rock mass increases with the increase of the...
